1] Commit to the Commitment - Creating a strong and fit body is an evolution, not a revolution! It takes time and commitment, so start exercising slowly and establish monthly goals.
2] Prepare what you Wear - Wear breathable cotton clothing while working out because it allows for easy bending, stretching and moving. If weather permits, Kacy recommends sleeveless tops to help keep cool in and out of the gym. For sleeveless ready confidence she chooses Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant, which minimizes the look and feel of underarm hair over time to help women feel stubble free for longer. It includes Dove 1/4 moisturizers to help care for delicate underarm skin while providing 24-hour odor and wetness protection.
3] Changes and Challenges - Kick the old, boring fitness routine to the curb and start to challenge yourself. Add new dance moves to your routine! Add weights to your cardio activity - Keeping your workout fresh and new will give an extra boost of motivation!
4] Location, Location, Location - No matter what time of year… find fun & unusual locations - Check out your state’s official website to find a forest preserve or lake in close driving distance where you can enjoy a challenging work out on new terrain, such as hiking or kayaking. Or keep it fresh and try something like belly dancing, ballet classes, zumba or Kacy Duke’s own Underground Groove.
5] The Clean Machine - Give your body, soul and home a makeover. Housework burns calories, so clear out the clutter and donate to those in need. It’s a fantastic way to head into the New Year!
6] Simple Steps, little rewards - Start your morning with a brisk power walk to a neighborhood café. Treat yourself to a hot cup of tea afterward, you deserve it!

  1. As a stay-at-home mom, I find it essential to shower right after breakfast. If I wait until later in the day, I find it harder to stay motivated in regards to getting things done. And, I just feel better throughout the day, too!

  2. If I start small, I get so much further. Like you were saying in your advice post, if I just convince myself to go on a walk I am so much more likely to end up jogging or making healthier choices throughout the day. I also feel better about myself when I am making smaller smart choices consistently instead of a few impulsive healthy choices among lots of not-so-healthy choices.

  3. cool giveaway! My essential is eating breakfast. Every day, always, even if I'm not hungry. If I don't, I end up snacking ALL day long on junk.

  5. I've always been lazy in working out but I started little by little at the beginning of this year. Last month, I started running following the Couch to 5K. When I looked at the scheduling, I thought it would take so long to be able to run 5K. I took baby steps and have fallen in love with running, so I definitely agree with taking things slow!

  7. Fun is essential! If something isn't fun, I can't commit to it. When it comes to fitness, I like my dance and yoga work out videos. My husband refuses to accept that that something that is painful is exercise, but he stopped going to the gym a while back, and I'm still doing my videos year after year.

  8. I love your giveaways! Always such a great surprise!

My essential is to sneak exercise in whenever I can. At work I park at the bottom of the garage and then walk up to my office (instead of taking the elevator). On my lunch break I use my half hour to walk around the city. I love it!

  10. My essential is walking my dog! She is my motivation after a long day at work, and she helps me keep things in perspective. Those walks also help keep me and my hubby connected. An hour walk is a great time to talk!

  12. My essential is good food that keeps me fueled for good activity. It's a cycle - when I eat better, I'm more motivated to exercise, and when I am more active, I'm more in the mood to eat really well!

  13. Ooh I have an essential when it comes to health eating: incorporate all of the nutrients - the healthiest fats, leanest proteins, richest fruits and veggies, and purest carbs. My latest favorite incorporation to my meals is coconut oil -- mmm! Balanced nutrition is super important.
